Good Nutrition Ideas, a women-owned nutritional health technology business, announces the receipt of support and funding to build an innovative new app to make nutritious meal planning available to all. GNI’s proposal was funded to develop a new accessible app to improve nutrition for people with disabilities and enhance their ability to live independently.
The Shepherd Center, through the App Factory (https://www.theappfactory.org/), promotes the development of smartphone and tablet mobile applications to address high-priority health needs of people with disabilities. Needs such as excellent nutrition!
The grants for accessible app development at the Shepherd Center are funded by the National Institute on Disability, Independent Living and Rehabilitation Research
Good Nutrition Ideas is partnering with Inspiring Apps (https://www.inspiringapps.com/), an app design and development firm based in Boulder, CO to develop this innovative technology. The new online app will serve up individually tailored, trusted, fun and healthy meal plans that are easy to access and incorporate into daily life.
Nutritionist and cofounder of GNI, Kathy Humphries reports, “People with disabilities need to count on healthy, balanced and adequate meals in order to successfully live with maximum independence. Poor nutrition leads to secondary conditions and illness that drive individuals with disabilities into higher-support living situations that they did not choose or prefer. Our new app will help anyone with important dietary needs get the individualized meal plans they want.”
Release of the app is anticipated in late 2023 for iOS mobile devices in the App Store.
