Mission & Vision

GNI provides flexible and novel nutrition products and training services for people with diverse and sometimes complex dietary needs, with an emphasis on serving older adults, people with disabilities, and support providers. GNI was founded with the vision of improving health and quality of life through innovative, easy-to-use health promotion products based in science.

Values

  • Community-driven
    • We believe in community. GNI includes members of the communities we serve in all aspects of our research and product design. We believe in the philosophy of “nothing about us, without us.”
  • Accessible design
    • We believe in accessibility. GNI’s products are developed to be accessible to everyone. This means they use plain language, can be used with assistive technologies such as screen readers, and are easy to use for individuals with mobility and other impairments.
  • Diversity & Inclusion
    • We believe in the importance and power of diversity. We aim to include everyone in our research and product development. We maintain a group of diverse advisors who provide mentorship and advice on all of our projects, and we engage with diverse community members to ensure our products are culturally responsive, accessible, and LGBTQIA+ friendly.
  • Person-centered
    • We believe that people know what they want and need. GNI’s products are person-centered, meaning that they are responsive to individual goals and values. You know what you need and we will help you get there.
  • Evidence-based
    • We believe in science. GNI’s products are evidence-based, meaning that they are based on nutrition science and have been tested and proven effective.
  • Health forward
    • We believe in health and health equity. GNI’s research and products support healthy eating for all. We know that good nutrition is key to a healthy, balanced life. We also know that healthy food is not equally available to all people and we are committed to changing this.
  • Dignifying regular eating
    • We believe in eating. GNI wants to take shame and diet-culture out of nutrition.
